AMSTON® Filter Press for sludge dewatering
and slurry dewatering
Sludge and slurry can be dewatered or dehyrated
in an Amston Fiter Press; a pressure filter press designed
to dewater sludge and slurry that has been produced from solid liquid
separation processes. A solid dry cake is formed after the end of
the filtration cycle. The Amston Filter Press can achieve a 90%
reduction in sludge volume.
In most instances, the sludge or slurry requires
chemical conditioning in a batch-mixing tank upstream of the unit
(typically cationic and aniomic polymers).
The AMSTON Filter Press consists
of a series of parallel plates, each fitted with a filter cloth.
The filter plates are manufactured from single mould ultra high
molecular, heat stabilized polypropylene. In most applications,
the cloths are also manufactured from polypropylene. The main frame
of the Amston Filter Press is fabricated from high tensile mild
steel with a heavy-duty paint specification, to ensure proper resistance
to corrosion as well as long life.
Once the plate pack is closed via a hydraulic
system, feed slurry is pumped into the filter press. The slurry
enters between the filter plates and water is forced through the
cloths and collected in a filtrate trough, leaving behind the solids
to form a compacted cake.
Cake discharge will be either manual, semi automatic
or automatic.
